Hi I am starting to swap in a 97 vortec engine in my 95 gmc
I have the complete 97 truck so I know I have all I need even new fuel pump

But my question is about the wiring will I need to use
the inside wiring under the dash to go with the engine harness from the 97
or will my 95 harness work with the 97 engine harness

The 95 is obd1 and the 97 is obd2 so you will need some to make it work if not all and it needs to be wired to the ipc or use the 97 ipc so the check engine light works also.Doesnt sound like something Id like to try because you would have to use old and new and wire it all corectly for everything to work but Im sure it could be done just no fun.Not to mention evap system problems and exaust system monitering problems also.Would ne a nightmare in a nutshell.

iv got the dash wiring also if i need it. i have done carb to tbi in several s10 by swaping dash and engine wiring.thats not that bad but never done this swap yet . i think i may try a intake swap and run the tbi on the vortec engine but not sure about the computer if i will have to get it flashed or not and if the engine will be as strong with tbi
