Hi, I have a 2000 GMC sierra 1500 5.3L 4wd, I was driving down the road and hit a bump and all the gauges went to 0 except the voltage and oil pressure. The transmission also kicked out of overdrive and when I stopped the trans. would not downshift. When I tried to start it back up, it would not crank but I could hear the starter relay in the dash click but not on the starter. I have checked the ground to the engine, chassis and frame which all had ground. The odometer is also not working!! I just put a new battery in it about a week ago too! Please help!

I tested battery and even put the old battery back in and still the same problem. I checked the alternator and it is charging fine. I think the problem is somewhere under the dash but not sure where at. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem who knew where the problem is actually at. This is not a spam post!!

I have noticed there has been spam post like this it look real but then nobody responds. I dunno maybe it was a glitch.

it may be worth looking at the ignition switch. not sure on the year, but this was a common problem with chevy.

I was thinking about that too! I had it narrowed down between the starter relay in the dash, the ignition switch, or a loose power or ground under the dash. Since I already have the dash torn apart i'll do alittle more searching for a broken wire but I think i'm gunna replace the ignition switch also. Thanks for the help mudseeker!

I just changed the ignition/starter switch and i am still have the same problem.. I check the fuse panel and found that the IGN 0 fuse doesnt have any power on either side of the post even after taking the fuse out and checking for power on the post.. Any suggestions on where to start looking now? I'm thinking maybe a relay somewhere but not sure which one!
