Help! I have an 88 chevy truck, "sometimes" the left tail light goes out when I hit the brake and the brake light won't come on... I thought it was a ground, or shorted wire. Replaced the rear wiring harness to both rear lights (plugs in to a 4 pin connector LH rear frame), also replaced the LH light assembly, still the same problem.. what am I missing?

you replaced the light assembly? Including the plastic board on the back of the light itself? have seen several of those die... if it isnt the board the wiring and lights plug into then its got to be a wiring problem somewhere along the line.. I assume the turn signal for the left side is also not working?

hi mechman, does the truck have aftermarket trailer hitch wiring?, sometimes if somebody spliced the wiring for the trailer hitch wiring the connection might be loose or corroded in the harness.
