Has anyone had a worn dist gear or shaft on a 5.7? How was it causing your truck to run? Mines a 97.

everyone tells me mines going to wear out since i run such thick oil my PSI never drops below 60, even when hot, and nearly pegs 90 when cold.

been doing that since 60,000 miles ago, and the engine just pooped a week ago; 2 pistons cracked, and for the record, no wear on my cam gear.

i would think the timing will get a bit out of synch. and since the pump turns hard with pressure it might encourage quicker wear.

I would think it would throw the crank/cam correlation code once the gear was wasted.
