I have a 97 chevy and want to change the junk aftermarket radio that is in it.
After removing the trim around the gauges, radio and heater controls what
comes next? I don't see how to remove the radio or heater controls.

Also, is the fan relay in the same place behind the glove box as on a 95 GMC ?

There is a little push down arm on both sides of the radio. Push both of them down and radio should side right out.

If its a aftermarket radio there should be a cosmetic sleeve they slide into and each radio has a special way to get the locks to unlock to slide out of that sleeve.

What brand of radio are you putting in? Ebay has some good deals in Apline HU's or craigslist.org

This may sound crazy but I may see about getting the OEM from a salvage yard.
I seldom use the radio but I look at the clock often and the aftermarket that is
in there is impossible to read. I also don't like the looks of the non matching dash.
Another thing I do want to change is the seats, has the 60-40 and I had the 40-40-20
in other words individual seats with counsel in the GMC . missing that counsel already.
Also those seats sat much better.
