I'm in the process of trying to remove the oil pan on my 04 Chevy 4.8 l and don't know if it's easier to remove power steering stuff or remove motor mounts and jack up engine to get the clearance to remove pan?? Any body know what the best way to do this?

I don't know what the best/ proper way is; I've always jacked the motor and proped at the mounts with pieces of 2x4. I've never had any issues doing it this way.

Do you have enough room at bell housing and body to jack up?
You will probably have to pull up on motor..where are you going to jack from?
Also on older let say 87 to 98 could get pan off without taking mounts loose or ******* up .
Does yours have the rivets in oil pan?
I have the step by step gm,s way to do it ..about 6 hours of work if you want it.
