I have gotten used to it but my steering wheel seems to be too loose...too much play in it, any thoughts as to if this can easily be tightened up some. i know my truck is pretty off on its alignment but i cant afford to get that fixed at this time since i just spent alot on the engine.

you just said what the trouble is, an alignment is cheaper than tires, and they wil tell you what else it needs

i'd check the rag joint, tie rod ends, idle arm and all steering components. it could be a combination of things. if its just in the column it could be the tilt or steer shaft bushings.

Pitman arm on the steering gear gets real loose in the joint to the linkage.
