big 3 no more?

did anybody here about toyota beating GM in total vehicals sold or something to that effect? i guess GM has held the record for 70 some years straight. i guess toyota is doing something right, maybe it is all the tundra commercials.

thats scary being that yota outsold ford just last year and GM sold almost twice as many as ford did.

Honestly, would you spend the money on a tundra and use like a ford, or a chevy? i know I wouldn't! When the say outsold, do they mean units? or money?

I would personally have a hard time spending 15 grand on a new stripped 2wd Ford and using to for dauling horse cr ap! Why spen 45 grand on a yota and using it for anything that would abuse it? Just my opinion though. I know they make a long lasting automobile, but for what we all use trucks for in construction, mechanical and the trades, it doesn't seem practical, thats all. These must be the family guys who drive to work only every day wanting a nice looking utility vehicle, or something.....

I really hate those toyota comercials. I really hate the direction trucks have been going in for years. the trucks keep gettting bigger and more ridiculous. 1/2 ton trucks with 10,000 pounds towing capacity, and 8500 pay load. I mean god, if you need a 3/4 ton truck, ****ing buy one. the arms race between 1/2 ton trucks is so stupid. The 3/4 tons are ussually emmisions exempt (here in NYS anyway). 1/2 ton truck = 1000 lbs, not 10,000.

i hear ya 436. i dont think i would mind much driving a toyota but the cost of the parts is what i hate the most. i had a high side power steering hose go out on a 89 that set me back almost 250. not to mention other parts and what have you. i think either way you go, there are good points and bad. i just find it ashame that Chysler has fallen so far behind when they used to kick the dog mess out of ford many years ago when Lee Iacocca still head them up.

i dont care about the commercials, i dont believe that stuff they show. like the dead wieght drop of about 10,000lbs, the truck catches it then pulls it. sure it may have done it ONCE, now try and drive that truck home.

I have worked in the trades almost all my adult life, and I don't ever remember seeing a Toyota Van? or a Toyota dump truck? or even a Toyota box truck? I have seen the ocasional tundra for a wealthy construction manager, but when it comes to haulin' and to workin' I have only really seen fords and chevys. Not even as many Dodges now that I think of it, but there are still more of them then Yotas.

I had to comment on this too. I have seen those commercials, and I agree, I don't think it could even do it once. Notice you don't see a whole complete shot, its edited. Thats the trick, nothing on TV is real. Now if I saw it in person, then I would believe it, like the dead pull and quick stop with the a trailer holding ten thousand lbs on a grated surface, no way! For now, I just accept them as advertising gimmics.
