 | brake light problems I have a gmc ext. cab 1/2 ton and the brake lights go out when the pedal is pushed but the signal light and regular lights still work . |

 | might be a bad switch. Have you checked the bulbs?

| Read that again. The brake light goes out when the pedal is pushed, and the other lights remain the same. If I recall the 99 truck has independant bulbs for the turn signals, and of course the running light is a seperate element, so that is working fine. If the brake lights are working the opposite way, the switch is wired backwards, it is wired normally closed instead of normally open. |

| i dunno, to me it sounds like the taillights are on and when he hits the brake pedal, then the tail lights go out and the brake lights don't come on. kinda confusing.

| brake light problem Thanks for the info guys. I checked the bulbs and they are ok. Sorry for the confusion but what I meant is that when I push the pedal down the lights come on then they go off even though the pedal is still pushed. And this happens everytime I push the brakes. |
