| More help with the Dodger Okay, I just bought a set of American Racing beadlocks. (15x12) with a set of 31 inch Pro Comp All terrains. Only problem is they are 6 lug while my W-150 is a 5 lug. The bolt pattern on the wheels is the same as a Dodge Dakota. How can I change over my bolt pattern to fit? Can I just yank the axles and get them recut?

| Real beadlocks or "streetlocks"? Regardless, of the design, the type of wheel is the most important, because some wheels can be re-drilled for different patterns. Things that keep you from doing this, would be the diameter of the center hole. A wheel with a center that is too small will not fit over your hub up front. Using a forged aluminum wheel can also be drilled and a steel inster installed for fifferent patterns. The rear avle flange can be re-drilled and new studs installed for a different pattern. You can also change the front hub that has a different pattern to accomodate the new wheels, but here is the big question,,,,,,,,, Is all of that really worth it? The re-drilling of the rear axle alone is gonna run around $100 bucks not including your time to remove everything, anf then you have to run down the right hubs for the front, and this means that you have to shell out the dough to buy them, and stilltake the time to replace everything. Real 15" beadlocks start at about $150.00 each. I am thinking you could sell the wheels and make up the difference towards the purchase of brand new ones, still keep those tires if that is what you really want, and be time and money ahead. Fake beadlocks (streetlocks) are even less money than the real Mc Coy. |

| They are real beadlocks. I got them for my Dakota but things fell through with my buildup idea. Do you know what other trucks run the same bolt pattern as a Dakota? I wanted to run beadlocks on my W-150 but I think maybe I'll keep the tires and mount them on my cragars. About how much do you think I could sell those beadlocks for? I spent $450 for the wheels and tires at the 4x4 jamboree. They were marked down considerably.

| If you bought tires and wheels for that kind of money, you are way ahead of the ball game, and could easily find your self selling them and replacing the wheels for about the same money, depending on the condition of the older set. Sometimes the rings get beat up and look really bad, but all that aside you should be able to sell them for around $350 to $450 (US) on evil bay. Heak do it your self beadlock kits run just over $200 (US) from rockstomper, and you still have to weld them up and mount all of the hardware. In my area beadlocks are not that cheap and used ones are hard to come by. Have you checked the price of new ones that have the right pattern? I believe thie would be an easier and slightly less time consuming alternative. |
