| I know I have expressed many opinions on here about Toyota and there presence here in the American market. Most of you agreed with me that the big 3 are still better. However, since Toyota is right now the number #1 selling truck in the country, I thought y'all might like to check this out. In the next few years, due to new federal acts involving fuel efficent vehicles and better quality engines, most foriegn companies are trying to exceed this. Toyota is also trying to severely compete with Dodge, Ford and Chevy in the truck world too. The big 3 all have super-duty diesels running duallies and heavy duty equipment. Toyota has decided to join the market with the Tundra. The goverment is requireing a redesign and work-up of all diesel motors by 2020, bettering an avg MPG of 15 or more. Plus pollutants have to be drastically cut down since Diesels are some of the dirtiest motors out there. Toyota is going to be releasing the Tundra with a 8.0l inline 6-cylinder turbo diesel, running over 300 HP, and 600 lb/ft of tourque! The motor alone weighs in at over 1500lbs! The truck will also be running 22 inch wheels with duallies in the rear. Four-door with every possible option known to man. This is a beast of a truck! Totally unnescesary! They are claiming close to 20mpg and a 35k lb towing ability! Truck is not yet priced or due to be released in this country for a couple years, but Toyota is hoping that when it does, it will revolutionize the world of the work truck. They want the market they haven't touched yet. Here is a link to a web page write-up about this from the 2007 SEMA convention.... PickupTruck.Com - SEMA 2007 - Pickup Artists - Toyota's Talent Behind the Tundra Diesel Dually CrewMax I still will always be a GM boy myself, but working for a car dealership that sells Chevy, Suzuki, And Toyota, I get little tid bits of information from time to time. How do y'all feel about this move from Toyota? Do you think it will force Ford, Chevy and Dodge to step up a notch? Do you think it will out sell the Cummins, Powerstroke and Duramax? There is no word on price yet, like I said, but where do you see the price of this rig falling? Any other concerns or opinions are fine too. I thought this was so very interesting today, and wanted to share it with everyone here. Junior

| I have a theory about trucks. Fords are good looking, high maitenance and apt to let you down. They are therefore femanine. Gm is stong, dependable and rugged and is mascaline. Toyota will decorate your living room in chrome and vivid fabrics. |

| Geez, I was never a BIG fan of Duallies but. Hey WTH? Toyota has made some huge success with there "Rubicon Ready" FJ Cruiser and you can't kill a Toyota.... except for when water gets into the eng. and bends some rods and pops some freeze plugs, that is a loooong story for a different day though... I do think Toyota would need a couple of years to prove the diesel's dependability without trashing the other brands in commercials like every other make does. |

this move from toyota really isn't all that surprising since they basically tied chevy in sales, according to the news.

| I don't think that truck will ever see the road. Now don't get me wrong. do i think toyota will produce a for light trucks. Probably. Will it be that 8.0 liter. negative. that motor is way to big for a "light" duty vehicle. It didn't even fit in that truck. When they "threw" that truck together for sema it was just for show. It didn't even have any ac components. now don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking toyota. They are trying to buy into a huge market that is ever growing, but they are going to have to do it with something more practical than that truck.

| I am not gonna agrue your point, however, i do have more literture here at the dealership that I can't get on this website, due to it being in paper form..... It is a relase from Toyota itself saying the specs on this truck and when it will be relased. It is due out September of 2009 for the 2010 model year. The look and perhaps some features may change, but they are releasing it as a "Super Duty" truck, not a light duty truck. They may tame down the motor, I can see that, but according to the relase we have here, it is due to have a estimated towing capacity of 35k lbs. I would think they would need that motor to do it. However, as I am sure everyone knows, "concepts" never get produced like they want. Look at the Dodge Charger. The concept was awesome, but the car itself was kinda a dissapointment in my eyes. I think it is cool that Toyota wants to get a peice of this market, and most of us here at the dealership think the truck will certainly sell. I am anxious to see how it turns out when it hits the streets.
