| Torque Converter for Towing I've seen a ton of "race" t.c. but towing t.c. are few and far between. If my 80 3/4 ton chevy with a 350 turbo trans worked as a tow vehicle primarily, whats the best choice for a new t.c. when i rebuild my tranny.

| they do have towing convertors out there. Not sure which one would be best fo you though. how much do you tow? I've seen stock convertors in older 3 speeds hold up very well under normal towing etc...

| Most aftermarket converters have different stall speeds for better launches. This is impossible with a trailer, so a low stall speed (or tight converter) is used for towing. Now heavy duty converter components will help insure a long life, but nothing will help as much as keeping the transmission cool. Heat is the biggest killer of the automatic transmission. More weight that has to be pulled means that greater heat is generated, and a larger cooler s required. There are many, many converters available for RV and towing applications, but they will only last if they stay cool. Do make sure you buy a quality cooler for any new transmission. |

| Thank you for the input. Best combo would be a stock (low stall) converter with a good tranny cooler. Question # 2 What am I looking for in a rebuilt transmission? Shift kits, heavier duty clutch packs?

| For a turbo 350 around 700 +/- if they pull it and there is no need for hard parts (ie drums etc..) If you pull it and have them do a bench job should be much less.
