| 2WD truck in dunes? Before I try it and look like a tool, would my 2wd 07 silverado crew cab 4.8L V8 with a G80 locker and stock tires make it in the pismo dunes if I aired down to 12-15 PSI? Thanks Last edited by pure; 06-22-2008 at 09:45 PM. |

| I think on the stock tires even a 4x4 would have a tough time. One thing about sand is you need a wide surface area to help the truck "float" on the sand...

| it depends on how packed the sand is. if it is loose then forget about it you will only make it about 25 feet then get stuck.

| Welcome to the site; What are your intentions at pismo? Are you towing a trailer, and just need to get the truck in and out? Maybe your ride is also your toy? You will be able to get around, but you will find yourself a little bit over your head in the larger dune area. |

| I'm going to the beach this weekend and I'm going to bring a go-kart for the dunes but it's only a 2 seater. I would like to take my truck in the dunes so we could all have some fun but from the sounds of it I would get stuck quickly, I guess we will just have to take turns because the sand is pretty soft and deep. Thanks for the replies. |

| For dunes, if you haven't got paddle wheels, then your fun is going to be very limited. Sand isn't like mud, sand isn't forgiving and once you start to get stuck, there isn't anything really to stop it. Plus when your out in the dunes, there usually isn't a tree with in a 100 miles to attach your winch to. http://www.geocities.com/baja/dunes/7656/Buggy4.jpg

| first off 4x4 only way to go, i would try some big wide tires with deep lugs so you float on top of the sand(paddles maybe?) -good luck- |
