| Four Wheel Help! Alright I need to know what I need to do to get my truck back on the road. Here is what happend. I was driving it a month or two back when the front driver side hub "shelled out" I mean the cap fell off and the spring and drive gear fell out. I can drive it in Hloc, but would like to fix this problem. Now pics.

| basically you need to find and install a new locking hub... they arent that expensive.. around 150 for the pair.. relitivly easy to put on and just requires basic hand tools.. |

| Actually that would be true if that vehicle was equiped with locking hubs, but it is not. This truck has a New Process 203 transfer case, and this is a full time case. This truck is in 4wd all of the time, and it does not have locking hubs. There is a giant explaination as to why the truck is not driveable when one wheel is disabled, but this is normal. You have a drive flange that has come apart, and it is simply due to a malunctioned snap-ring. If you have all of the parts, you can fix it in no time, but these parts are super cheap. Replace the flange, and this thing will be driveable once again. You can install locking hubs, but they will have to remain "locked" forever in order for the truck to operate correctly. |

| To me that looks like a GM Burb or Blazer picture my old 87 Burb I had wouldn't go into 4X4 when I bought it so I placed some locking hubs on it and it fixed it so when I wanted to use the 4X4 I would lock the hubs place the leaver in 4X4 and I was good to go. |

| 75K30: is the drive flange the thing that is driven by the drive gear to turn the wheel?

| Apologies for the late response as irony would have it, I was out wheelin yesterday. The drive flange is the gear that makes the physical connection between the axle shaft and the hub. Notice that the hub has internal splines, and the axles stub shaft has external splines. The drive flange is really nothing more than a thick piece of steel that has splines around the outside, and set of splines on the inside. It will slide right over the axle, and is retained by a snap-ring that keeps it in place. There is a chrome cover that presses into the end of the hub to keep debris out. Here is an example of a drive flange kit. NOte that this is a beefy aftermarket kit, but this should give you an idea of what you need; Another tip: take the cover off of the other side. Clean the grease and rust off, and you will see everything that you need. Then take inventory and set sail to a local salvage yard. You will find what you need for a few bucks. |

| Here's an update, the threads on the spindle went bad, causing the spindle nut to push against the drive flange and break the snap ring the holds everything in there. I got a spindle for $20 and tommorow I'm gettin new spindle nuts. I'm replacin the wheel bearings so this doesn't happen again any time soon.
