Mysterious Part...

Alright, sorry no pics now, but here's the description. It's a ring the goes on the backside of the outer front wheel bearing the keeps the drive spring off the bearing. The truck is Full Time Four Wheel Drive. Any ideas? I've looked all over for it, no parts store can order it and a guy thats got 40+ trucks like mine, but part time four wheel can't find one either. ???

You have been at this for quite a while, Find a complete set of locking hubs, and install those. These will bolt right up, and you will not have to worry about odd ball parts any longer.
You will have to make sure that your hubs are locked all of the time, or it will not go anywhere unless you have engaged any of the two LOC positions.
You truck will continue to work, even with manual locking hubs.
Instead of fishing for a particular part, you can eliminate the problem by switching components.
You might find yourself time and money ahead in the long run.

Gotta question for ya 75K30: where can I get the conversion kit for my front hubs to accept locking hubs. There is nothing I can bolt the locking hubs to right now, so who makes those kits. I know the exsist... and what is the typical cost of one, thanks!

The hubs do not have to be changed, only the lockouts. Notice the large gear like pieces in the pic above. This is the splined unit that engages the hub itself. The outside has splines and the inside does too. The inside attaches to a sliding gear that rests on the axle, Turn the dial on way, and the outer ring presses in, and makes a complete connection between the axle, and the hub. This engages the front hub. Turn the dial the other way, and the large outer ring is pressed out away from the inner gear, and the hub is no longer engaged.
This outer gear has threaded holes in it, and this gear is retained by a large snap ring. The snap ring prevents the whole outer assembly from falling out. The threaded holes are what the chrome part of the locking hub bolts to.
This is a brief over view of how this works, and an idea of what you need to make your truck work again.

I would find this guy that has all of the salvaged trucks, and swipe a set off of one of those. Will only take a few minutes to get them apart, and you will be back on the road again.

Keep in mind that you will always have to keep the front hubs locked if you go this route. Eventually you can install a nice NP 205 part time transfer case for ultimate strength and reliability.

yeah when i changed out my autohubs to manual locking ones i think it took about 10 mins a side... there a breeze to install.. i dont even think i had to take the rims off.. but it was a kia sportage..lol so that could have been the problem in itself
