Replacing front wheel joints

My front wheel joints are starting to make some noise. Does anyone know if you have to remove the hub bearing or can you remove the whole assembly to get to the wheel joints on a 2001 Dodge 4wd?

am assuming you are referring to the ball joints?? no, you should not have to remove any of the hub assembly to replace those. just remember the jack stand underneath the lower a arm so that you dont get that coil spring in your face when you pop that joint loose.

Thanks guys, but actually the front wheel joints on a 01' Dodge 4WD are just like the U-joints on your drive shaft. The 01' has a solid front axle with joints at the end to allow the wheels to turn left or right.

you have to remove the hole assymbly with axle and all did one on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4. the hub nut is on there very tight gonna need a breaker bar and probbly a cheater bar we tried an impact and it wouldnt budge it. becareful when you reassemble it not to hit the axle seal inside the axle housing.
