So have been asking lots of questions elsewhere on this forum, thought I would ask one about the fuse for the 4X4 system. On the drivers side of the dash at the end is a little cover that has fuses under it, the one marked for 4X4 was marked on the cover list as calling for a 25Amp, I found they had plugged in a 30Amp instead. I removed it and put a 25 back in it, any idea why someone would need to put a higher amperage one in? I was always taught to stick with the rated amp, not go higher, just like home electrics, so am curious, was there an issue with the 25 being too low of an amperage, or what? There was spare fuses and one was a 25A, so there was no reason I can see to put the higher one in. Any thoughts?

| chances are thats what someone had when they needed a new fuse, if the 25 doesn't give you any problems all is good

Don't forget that just because it's a 4x4 they still get stuck it's always smart to go with another truck 4x4ing just in-case. Congrats on truck I hope you have ton's of fun. Be safe! GMC

Yep, and who hasn't done that? Used a fuse because they happen to have it. I would be guilty as charged too. Just be thankful he used the 30amp, and do what some other lugnuts (aka dumba$$es) I have seen do. Wrap the fuse with tin foil and put it back in, forget about it, then caught their wiring loom on fire. That was an expensive repair. I've done that before too, but what I did was robbed a good fuse from something else just to get home, then wrapped the bad fuse with a piece of gum foil and put that fuse where I robbed the good fuse from. Certainly did not want to put the foil fuse where there was an obvious problem or the fuse would not have blown in the first place. And I sure put it back the way it was supposed to be after I got home. Yes, it's true, who says a stick of gum can't get you home when you break down?

Say hotrodpc a regular nail got me home once I had placed a direct oil pressure gauge on my GTO and I went out cruising well I seen in my back window that smoke was coming out of my car so I pulled over and what had happened the plastic line for the oil gauge had pulled out of the sending unit I didn't give it enough slack so I got a nail from someone's mail box and plug up the hole where the hose went well it got me home as well. And I fixed it. The things one does sometimes just to get going again.

Yep, been there and done that too. I certainly prefer a mechanical guage over electric, but you sure certainly have to route it the right way and keep it away from the exhust.
