| How do you take out the rod and install it in another booster? |

| Ok, got a new brake booster. Had Advance to order it. It looked liked my old one. I put it on. Hooked everything back up..the new mastercylinder, etc. Put brake fluid in.Pumped the brakes and they never got hard. My brother tried to bleed the lines but a little bit of brake fluid popped out (not like when I had the old brake booster- it shot out a stream of brake fluiid). I took off the lines off the master cylinder and pumped, one port (with the brass fitting) didn't want to pump out so I took the brass fitting off and it was clean. So I put the brass fitting back on but didn't tighten it too tight, pumped the brakes and it shot a stream one time, the other port just spitted out brake fluid but not enough. We tried with the truck on but still the same thing So what could the problem be? |

| Well I took the cap off the master cylinder and had my brother to pump the brakes. The front part of the master cylinder (where the fluid goes in for I think the front brakes?), it spirted up brake fluid but the rear (the big one) didn't spirt up no brake fluid. So...I don't know. I don't want to have to get someone to tow the thihg allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way to town and for the mechanic to werk on it. :-\ I know it's being a pain in the rump. Now I got wasp bedding up in the engine of the thing. BLAH! But I do have some nice 36 Super Swampers on it now. Yay. |

| OK! Someone hit me! I found the problem! I thank yall for not answering my topic because I need a stupid slap. The problem is..... I tighten the master cylinder to tight to the power brake booster! So I snug the nuts back up and now the brakes work but the pedal is still loose (must be air still in the lines) My brother wants me to go carry it to the mechanic because he is tired of helping me.... :-\ Thanks again! |

| How do you get the master to tight to the booster??? You are making me think you have the wrong size rod when you say that. As if it maybe to long. That could also explain why you are keeping air in the line because the master cylinder piston is not coming all the way back home. Yeah, where is all your help on the thread lately???

| Maybe not a bad idea at this point. It will cost you some bucks, but it sounds like you have done the hard part. Being safe is worth it to have someone check over all your work and find the problem. I have a feeling it will be something simple you may have missed. Thats why experience is good to have. You got lots of experience this time, and when they tell you what you did wrong, you won't ever forget it. So next time you have to do this, you will have it down. Also sounds like a break job from the bad hot place down there, since someone in the past has severely neglected the brakes.

| Yeah, they only had front brakes. Retards if you want to call them that. Nothing hard with buying stuff for the rear drums! It didn't hardly even cost alot! I think I'm going to tell the mechanic to check over the brakes and bleed the lines, take off the front two disc and turn them and put on my new brakes I got, clean the carb and adjust the carb, see what is wrong with the steering and how much it will cost and just check out the whole truck! |

| Maybe a good idea. Have someone look it over and correct what has been neglected so badly, then stay on top of it yourself and learn as things go wrong and need replaced a little at a time. That will give you a lil bit more time to roll around in the hay with Elly May anyway.
