Noise when engaging 4Lo?

So I find now that I have my first 4X4 truck, it is a 1996 K2500 4L80E tranny, with the three push buttons on the dash to put it into 2Hi or of course 4Hi or 4Lo, anyway I would say when doing it like I do, which is sitting still in neutral that between 2hi and 4hi it is fairly quiet when putting it back into gear from neutral, but when I push 4Lo and then put it into gear it seems to clunk I guess you would call it, and most definetly seems to want to go, lots of torque it feels like, is this normal that it is engaging a little harsher than the other two settings?

depends on how loud the clunk is i guess. never owned push button and don't ever plan to either.

normal, mine is push button, even engageing while slowly moving (into high) there is a clunk, wouldn`t worry about it untill the chain skips or a really bad bearing noise while moving, or indication of metal during oil flush.... good to go.

Thanks for the responses, now that leads to another question, I was told by the salesman I can shift on the fly from 2hi to 4hi or back, but need to be stopped and in neutral to engage 4 lo, is this right?
I never got a manual for it, and want to find one, but untill then maybe I can get most answers here on how to use the four wheel drive system.

It shouldn't be a problem. I had a 93 Jimmy with push button 4wd that made the same noise. I even changed the actuator motor after it went out & both motors made the same noise. If you're still worried, changing the fluid might help.

Normal... no need to be alarmed. It's the synchros engaging and the output shaft drive drum sudden increase in RPM...
