sm465 also known as a top shift muncie and most likely a np205 t-case.

Yep, to all my research looking for a a Fo Buh Fo, mUDeRaTOr is right. And from I also see of find, its the good stuff too. Leave it alone and run it as is, unless you want to go with an OD transmission and keep your granny gear, then you can go to NV4500 which is a New Venture trans. I think those are the guys that got in bed with GetRag if I understand correctly. Not sure on the adaption of a NV4500 to your transfer case though. Your truck ever comes up missing, don't come looking at my house.

i dont plan on changing the transmission. i heard that those trannys are pretty tuff and deffinatly add some torgue to the wheels. im just trying to figure out what kind because im pretty sure it needs thefront seal. the person i bought the truck off of didnt take care of the truck and beat the $#!^ out of it. its never had a flywheel cover on it and there is all kinds of gunk built up in there. also. i was wondering if they made a rebuild kit for that transmission andif they do, how much of a pain in the **** would it be to do it?

there are kits for that trans, i had one in an 80 gmc, i never did rebuild it but had done the front seal, its very easy. i would think the rebuild would not be too bad with a factory manual, the gm books tell it like it is and are very easy to understrand, unlike the chiltons and haynes out there. as long as you keep in oder everything taken apart it should go together easily. pickup a factory manual and you couild do anything you want on that rig!

thats good news. yea im not a very big fan of chiltons manuals myself. i figured that since im replacing the whole body, motor, and clutch, that i might as well to the tranny.
