I am pretty sure the "M" was a 400 block to start with. Not a 351 at all. I had one in my 79 T bird in high school. great running motor.

No My understanding of the M was it started with a 400 block. but different bore or stroke.

the 351m and 400m are the same block, different bore and stroke....... you can put a 400 crank in a 351, and get a "stroker", but it doesn't gain you much....

I had always heard the M was for Midland. But, I am not a Ford guy so don't quote me on it. Maybe I got bad info. But I do know 2 people that the M motor and they sure worked on them alot.

Ok. Got news.

Went to go test out my 4WD today again.

Got in some mud. Had it in 4H. It acted like it was losing power for some reason. It stalled on me one time. Put it in 4L....no problem.

My guess is, is that I need a new carb after all.

I'm thinking about getting that Holley Truck Advenger....
