1978 rear end

the rear end in my 78 chevy puked, i am being told that it is a 307 according to the numbers stamped on it. I cannot find any information on this rear end or a replacement. can i put a 308 in it.

2wd or 4wd front and back should match

i am finding ring and pinion sets for 3.07s only in a d44, which you dont have. have found several in a 3.08 which is probably correct as mine has a 3.54 rear gear with a 3.55 front gear. i cant make the call if that would be ok but i imagine that it is. mine has been functioning great for a while now, so take that at face value. have you checked your local yards??

Finally found some information , the 307 and the 308 are basically the same rear end. thanks for all of the help.
