Just another suggestion, but it may not be good for you since you'd have to insure 2 vehicles, a 4x4 is a fun, muddin, scratchin up in the sticks kind of ride. I would just have your 4x4 truck in safe, sound and sanitary conidtion. You can cut sheet metal ouf of any spare hood or car door and rivet patches for your cab in the 4x4 after you kill the rust. It will never be pretty, but if it were me, that new body looks decent. Put that truck together as a peppy mild street/strip truck and make it a nice truck that will never see the mud and woods to get scratched up. Make the 2wd you nice looking daily driver and keep your 4x4 for tearing it up and having fun. You will find 4x4ing, you are going to break parts, and tear it up. Not a good idea to have that as your daily driver if its the only vehicle you have. This way you break your 4x4 playing hard, you still have your nice street strip truck to get to work and/or school. As Lonesome said, don't ruin what appears to be a good truck. You'll also find those 2wd 1/2 ton trucks, parts are cheaper and easier to work on as far brakes, chassis and suspension parts.

I just decided to keep the cab on and put the bed on.

IT DOESN'T LOOK BAD AT ALL!

I just painted the cab where it was brown. I get pictures tomorrow.

HOTROD.
I have a Ford Ranger for a daily driver (insurance $40)
1979 Ford F150 4X4 (insurance $35)

Cool, I get it now. Sure hate to see a good truck go to waste. Not really waste since you are using the majority for another project. If all you are using is the bed, sell it as a cab and chassis. Someone out there may a similar that was nice, and wrecked in the front with a bend frame and your left over chassis be pefect for them. Free to put an ad on Craigs, let it sit there for as long as it takes. All you need it one buyer to fit that criteria and as long as your price is right, it will be gone soon enough. I know, sounds stupid, but I just hate seeing these older truck parts go to the crusher. They are getting harder and harder to find. It does not hurt my feelings to see a wrecked 2000 and newer, there are still plenty of those left and they are salvaged for everthing before they get crushed, nothing good is left.
