Question Lift kits pros and cons of brands

I am wanting to lift my truck but can not decide what brand is better. I have been told RCD is good cause it keeps the same upper a arm in the stock location. I have been told skyjacker is good! and that fabtech is good also. All this has been told to me by salesmen trying to make a sale. So for the guys that actuall have lift and KNOW which is better, which brand of lift is good for a 92 GMC Yukon GT 4x4. I know I have only mentioned 3 brands cause those are the only ones that have been recommended to me by the shops. I am wanting a 6" lift if that changes the outcome. Thanks.

My buddy had a 1996 gmc 1500 and the fabtech on his truck destroyed the front end. the cv axles were at two much of an angle so it kept wearing them out. we ended up taking the lift off of his truck.

Ok good to know I hadn't really heard good things about fabtech on 4x4 was told they were good for 2x4s. Thanks.

for clarification purposes, did the fabtech lift destroy the suspension or did the lift destroy it?? it might be unfair to say that their particular product ate the CVs when any brand of lift could have done it. i am just trying to keep it fair although, if any fabtech rep wants to slide me some money, i might be interested.
what size lift was installed??

Good point. you asked the size of the lift how high would you say until it would destroy the suspension components? I am wanting a 6" would that be outlandish for weekend fun?

you can go just as tall as you want but other things should be thought of when you start getting that tall. 6in and above and you will need to redo the rear driveshaft angles otherwise, you will start going through u joints. as for the front end, 6 is alot for independant suspension and if you want something that is NOT going to rear up, look into a SAS. this will insure alot more reliability, plus alot more options when it comes to lifting. with this will sacrifice ride comfort though.

SAS? Solid Axle Suspension? Always had an issue with vocabulary.

I see what your saying i wasn't trying to bash fabtech. his truck had a 6" lift. I don't particularly like IFS four wheel drive i'm more of a straight axle kind of person. A SAS can be done they do make kits for it.

SAS is a solid axle swap. getting away from the IFS and going to a solid front axle that takes much more abuse.
