    1997 K3500 4x4 stuck in the mud!

I'm new to the 4x4 world, and today after going to ranch and getting stuck was not fun! I'm determined to not have this happen to me again! I bought the truck two weeks ago and today I tried putting in in 4L nothing happen. It's manual on the floor with I assume it's auto locking hubs. When placed in either 4h or 4L the lights on the floor did not light up on the front axle!

    1. I checked fuse in door and checked good. Placed a new just be sure

    2. Checked fluid level was a little low but overall ok. (what king of fluid should I use in the front axle)

    3. ?

This is where I'm lost. Could use any advice. I would appreciate the help! Tomorrow I'm off and would be a good day for me to work on it!

    Thanks,

    Alternative Discussion: 4X4 Wiring

This one too talks about a time delay relay to engage 4x4 its under the hood, might see if you have something close to it. I just googled your truck 97 k3500 won't engage 4x4 and found these links.

I just remove it, keep it plugged in and have someone put the truck in neutral and switch it from 2h to 4l??

Should just turn key on move to 4wd and it should move the pin in or out, I also found this there is a fix for it a repair bulletin was issued for it, scroll down you will see the repair bulletin.
