90 Toyota Lost Power "The Get up and go"

Today on the the way to work, my 90 Toyota truck lost almost all moving power "the get up and go" while going down the interstate.
-Motor is running fine
-fluid levels fine
-clutch (shifting into/out gear as normal).
-There is just no power in any gear. The bell housing was smoking (smelled like burning clutch), except i had shifted barely at all, got up to highway speed and continued down the road @ 55mph, then lost power- pressing gas and was slowing down.
Please help? Clutch slippage? Tranny? Thanks, ahead of time! ---J

PS: Truck Specs:
1990 Toyota
22RE-4 cyl
5 spd
4x4
107,000 orig miles-new timing chain &acces @ 99,000
last clutch change @ 70,000

When you lost power, was just forward motion? I mean the RPM's climb but nothing to the wheels? if not, it may not be the clutch. You said fluid were fine, tranny fluid too? When was the last tune up? With that I mean actual plugs wires etc. I assume it was at 99k sicne you did timing chain, but you did not specify.

These are all questions that would help narrow down. However, based on just what you have here, her is my thought. I had a fried with an older Caprice with this exact same issue. NO GO. it even slowed down hill with the accelorator floored. It turned out to be a plugged converter. Now you mentioned smoke around the bell housing, it is possible if the conmverter was over heating, it could have just looked like it was from the bell housing. Now granted, they get red, and I mean bright red if they are plugged and get hot, so it would be easy to see. I would venture to guess that was the problem, unless of course your RPM's were going nuts with no go, then it could be the clutch.

Yep, rpms climbed high little/no power to wheels, very slow to accelerate.
Last tune up at 104,000 plugs, button, cap, air filter
yes, @ 99k :timing chain sprokets, guides: valve clearance checked, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, timing reset using timing light gun.
thanks.

if the RPM's were climbing with no acceloration, then yes it would be your clutch. Could be possible even with only 37k on it. I would consider a replacment there.
