water pump woes...... PITA

so i'm sittin at the red light last night when the jeep starts makin the worst ruckuss ever. i thought she was about to come to pieces on me. literally sounded like the engine was rattling apart, but had no RPM change or power loss. sound contiuned at all speed. so i got it home and took a look at her when i got up today. the bearing(s) in the water pump were shot. the fan was wobling soooooo bad it was not funny. i think if i'd tried to red line the engine the fan woulda come out the top of the hood. so i call the stealership (129 for the pump 3.50 for the gasket) go to advance auto, $30 pump + gasket. no brainer. lol. get back home, (took the burb to the parts house). took me forever to get to the poump, 5 minutes to change it and another forever to get it all put back together. ugh. long day

the burb just missed you and sabotaged the Heep to get some alone time.

i feel your pain though, try changing an engine component on a full size van.

Glad it's fixed. My buddy had just placed a new crate engine in his Burb and didn't tighten the bolts correct to the fan he said the engine had a bad vibration on it and he couldn't figure it out well he drove it around getting on it and pulled over and noticed that the fan blade just had two bolts on it now was ever glad he pulled over.
