if you have an intake leak you will hear a difference in the rpms(they would raise). I use carburator cleaner myself but it is the same principle.

so i let it idle and then spray fluid around it and if it revs some i should suspect a leak?

yes make u use that u dont mist to the carb it will give u a false rev

it turns out that the distributor was failing and a new one is on now and all is good so far
