| To all members always use safety jacks when working under a truck/car and use a block or something under the wheels when ******* a car up so it won't move on you don't take a chance it's not worth it. I wouldn't want to hear about one of my friends getting hurt here. Be good! GMC PS-If anyone has things to add go ahead on. |

| safety every time the truck is jacked up it's on jack stand's,and wheels chocked .keys out of the ignition . |

| on a fan belt box, it says to turn off engine before installation. that might be good safety. also, dont fry bacon naked. |

| For any youngsters reading the forum, since I know us older guys already figured this out. I can share a story of my own stupidity at about 20 years old. I was working on the transmission of a car installing a new vacuum modulator. I was not going to be under it long, I used a GOOD floor jack and was only ******* up the car to gain some clearance to crawl under it. I was not even raising the wheels off the ground. Just a body lift. I slid under the car, got to work, went to crawl out when done and I was pinned to the creeper and could not move. The jack had slowly leaked down and the frame rail came down across my chest without me realizing it. This was a weekday, noone home, all the neighbors at work and school. Panic, Sweating, heavy breathing and hyperventiltation set in. Try that with a car accross your chest. Lucky for me about 10 minutes later of screaming for help and noone hearing me, the teen mother next door who did not go to school, was going to the street to check the mail. I yelled for her to come give the jack a few pumps. That 10 minutes seemed like 10 days. Although I was never in danger of losing my life by being crushed, I about lost my life to a heart attack. To this day, even if I jack for just an inch of clearance, I use stands, and I never get under a car unless someone is home, knowing I am working under the car and they are checking on me occasionally and can hear me scream if I need them. Since that incident over 22 years ago. I am very claustrophobic and a bit smarter I might add. Learn from my mistake youngsters. NEVER EVER Trust a jack. Not even a high dollar brand new one. Not even if you are just getting under it to tighten a bolt for a minute. BTW, the car ran great when I was all done. |

| that's not as bad as a shop teacher taking half his class under a f-150 on a lift without setting the locks. i was part of the smarter half of the class yelling at the teacher to set the locks.
