Smile Wood ****** in my AC/Heater housing?

Howdy folks, Diddly here. I have a 94 Sierra 4X4 with Z71 pkg. Lately when I turn the ignition switch on and for maybe 45 seconds there is a noise that sounds like a Woodpecker knocking away in the heater housing. Been told that maybe it is a bad AC/Htr Blend accuator and that it maybe necessary to R & R the dash to replace it? Does that sound right? Can it be disabled and left quiet where it is?

Thank You
Diddly here in the eastern Sierra/Nevada Mountains, Gardnerville, NV

Woodpecker in my AC/HEATER housing.

Thanks for the suggestion on the heater fan, I diconnected the Heater fan motor and it made no difference. Woody woodpecker is still there.

usually you have a hard time hearing the electric actuator when it sits there trying to move the door, does it change tone when you change the temp from hot to cold and back?

Changing from direct to recirculate while it's making the noise. It will stop the noise temporarly, after a short rest, bout 10 seconds it starts up again.

So then its the controller for the cab air recirculation find it and unplug it, I think it defaults to outside air, should be on the pass side around the blower motor
