tire trouble

i just put a 4in lift on my 96 1500 along with 305/70R16 tires and the tires are hitting my upper control arms. i also got new rims with the tires. do you think i should go with smaller tires or a rim with more offset? thanks

The tire is hitting, or the wheel is hitting? That ire is only 32.8 inches tall, and should not hit anything.
The wheel might rub if there is too much angle on the control arm. How did you obtain 4 inches of lift?
Do you know what the demensions of the new wheel are? How much backspacing?

That amount of backspacing could be a probelm, but with that small of a tire, you should be alright. Do you have a picture of the problem? would like to see where it is hitting.
4.5 inches is a bunch, but with limited lift, you should still be alright.
