Power Source for PTO Dump Body

I have a 3 cubic yard (7X8') dump body I want to mount on my 13000# GVW Truck. Unfortunately my truck has automatic, so no PTO to drive the pump/cylinder package. Is there an aftermarket motor built for this purpose? How about adapting a starter motor. I believe the original PTO turned at around engine speed, so a large starter motor might turn too fast, even in closed loop mode. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure who makes it but there are hydraulic pumps that you can mount on the engine and use the serp belt to operate. We have them mounted this way on our dodge work trucks.

Thanks for the input, this would be a good work-around if I can't find a motor to drive the existing pump. However, I'm hoping that there is a 12VDC motor out there that will turn the pump in place of the (missing) PTO.

Aaahhhh. I completely misunderstood ya. I got ya now! A starter motor will more than likely not be a good choice. they are not designed for continous use and might burn up too quickly.

Not sure about A/T, but most manuals have a place for a PTO attachment on the transmission that runs off of 2d gear. An electric hyd. pump can be had from most truck shops. Also check at a local hydrolic equipment shop. Check the "Yellow Pages". Prices differ for the same unit.

Have you considered a 12 volt hydraulic pump? I have a distant cousin who also ran into the automatic transmission problem on a one ton truck which he had installed a dump bed. He bought the 12 volt pump. It was working well when he sold the truck.
I have a Tommy Lift on an '84 F 350 that is 12 volt. I imagine it would be the same principle.
