^^^^ you are correct. for instance, jeep xj cherokees are unibodies, not bc they are suv and only one body piece, but bc they have no frame.

to be honest, i dont really know of any term, and its possible there arent any set terms, that are used identify the difference between a one piece and 2 piece body. odds are there arent seeing as how pickups are the only thing (that i can think of) that have 2 pieces.

sorry, i guess i used the the terminology a little too loosely. i was using bradrhales word unibody to show the difference between a one piece and two piece body. i wasn't thinking from the frame point of view, sorry for any confusion.

Unibodies have no seperate frame although some come close. Split body is slang but makes the point.
Remember why these are called trucks not cars ?
Because it has a cab in front and whatever you want in back, each seperately attached to the frame.
A pickup is just one style of truck, even though the frame and cab may stay the same.
Many hiway scales say "all trucks must stop" and that includes you unless the second sign says "no pickups".
You will have to stop in the scales in many states if the factory bed has been swapped for something else,
including a small home made flatbed.
In CA we have the joy of $80 weight fees added to reg for this reason.
Illegal even to carry a garbage can to dump in the bed if reg is as a pass car to avoid fee.
