Rear window glass advice.

I am prepping my '81 Chev. pickup for painting. The windshield will be installed by the pros after painting, since it is cracked. I plan on ordering a weatherstrip kit from Classic Industries, and supposedly it comes with all the rubber I need to do the truck. I am not sure if the kit comes with the chrome lock strips.

My question relates to the rear (fixed, non opening) rear window. I plan to take it out (and reuse it) so I can clean the channel and paint without worrying about painting up next to the rubber. How hard a job is it to get in and out (I will use a new gasket)? Is the rear window removed and installed toward the interior, or out the back? The lock strip pulled out pretty firmly, so it looks like it might be fun to get back in?

Anybody who has done this have any words of wisdom?

Thanks, Ralph.

I've removed/installed from the outside. That seems to me to be the best way. Removing isn't hard. installing was the hard part for me and it took 2 windows I might of broke the first one......

that chrome strip can be a paint in the glASS, had to go there, make sure the seal is warm when you instal and there is a tool to put in the chrome strip, its still a pain though silicone is the key, spray silicone is the way to go to help you
