Actuator for tranfer case

I posted a while ago about my 93 S10 blazer having troubles coming outta 4wd. Well I got it out of 4wd that day but last night I was upnorth setting my stand up for hunting and had to put it in 4wd to get down a road. Bad mistake....It got stuck in 4 low and couldnt get it out. Had to drive 6 miles in 4 lo which really sucked and took an awful long time to get to a spot I could get service on my cell phone. Couldnt reach no one for a rescue so I decided to get under there and take a look. I unbolted the front drive shaft and the actuator but couldnt remove the actuator because of the yoke. well by that time I finally got a hold of my brother and he towed me 50 miles home with a 50 foot snap rope. took the yoke and actuator off and manually shifted it outta 4wd by turning the spline or whatever it's called. After that story heres the question. I had to put some flame on the yoke nut to get it off but while doing so I burned 2 hoses Possibly vaccuum lines right above where the actuator was. Does any one know what these lines are for? It's a np233 TC. Is there something on this TC that is ran by Vaccuum? and also can I leave the actuator off and just manually shift it into 4hi or lo if needed by crawling under and manually turning the spline the actuator turns untill I get a new one

The answer to leaving the thing off, is no. You need the actuator to pulse vacuum to the front axle. The axle has a disconnect (no locking hubs) and requires this vacuum signal to engage the front axle.
Typically when this happens I recommend that this be removed from the front axle and the vehicle be driven with the front axle disconnected. Driving in 4lo with the front end engaged would be alright, just a little slow getting there. Would be like driving with the front hubs disengaged.
As for the repair, you should verify that the actuator is working properly. If it is not, then replace it while it is out, since you are over half way there. replace the vacuum lines making sure you do not lose the orientation, that is important.
Sometimes the switch goes bad, so just do a little troubleshooting. You are almost there.
Also, verify that the yoke seal was not damaged when you had to use the "hot wrench", lol.

Doesnt matter now. I Toasted the tranny while driving it in 4low for to long. So I bought a 94 Jimmy for cheap and now I have a whole vehicle of parts on hand. the actuator was bad in the jimmy also so I went and bought one for $75 at the bone yard. Won't get stuck in that kinda BS again. Stupid electronic shift ****.

where can I find one of those. The electric one I just bought doesnt seem to work. No clue if theres a vacuum problem if that'd even matter or bad wires. Seems like it takes alot of force to twist the spline the actuator twists. I like that reliable word.

Thanks CG, I have a 94 k1500 with a manual shift for the TC, I wonder why the 94 blazers and jimmys had that actuator BS. I guess it's more of a luxury headache than anything. A push button for lazy folks who can't bend down and push or pull a lever LOL. I'll check and see what I can find on ebay if I know how to word it right in the search that is. Even so. What do i do about that vacuum pulse 75k30 is talking about. maybe I just have a bad vacuum line somewhere that I havent already checked. Stupid electronics.

Well I'm outta ideas, I replaced the actuator and Checked the vacuum lines, maybe the TC is just low on fluid which I could only get about 1 1/2 quarts in it at the time because I had the front end jacked up but I dont know if that'd do anything. I see that the actuator has some sort of adjustment on the face and can move it about a 1/4 inch but I havent screwed with that yet. I guess the TC must be bad.. Maybe I'll just take it in and have it looked at like I should've done in the first place. Is there a way to test the actuator while its off the TC?

if u r looking for the manual actuator , go to summitracing.com and they should have it , i bought one for my 1989 k 1500 truck and i love it ... see mine use to dissengage al the time when i was plowing , i would hit the snow bank and it would dissengage the actuator in my front axel , i guess it is sensitive to cold , thuse making the thing to dissingageas soon as it is cold...dont know why it did that
