PO300 Code

My 96 c10 just gave me a PO300 code biefly and when it was reset it hasnt come back on. This was the same code it gave me before I replaced a the cat.......at the time it also gave me PO420 (I believe).

Well, my question is if there is a common problem in these vehicles that throw off the PO300 code.

About 6k miles ago, I replaced ALL the ignition parts except the O2 sensor.

Thumbs down It sucks!

It sucks but I think you will have to replace the O2 sensors. I had the same problem about 1k ago. The only way around it was to actually FIX the problem. Retarded right? I know! Who would ever think that to get rid of a warning light, that you would actually have to fix the problem.

It kinda sucks because my truck had 5 snsors and 4 of them needed replacing. Unfortunately, they were like $80 a piece.

P0420 is cat efficiency code, so it may mean that the cat is losing effectiveness or an o2 sensor may be giving an off reading, but not so far off that it is completely gone

Well, I replaced the Cat and the PO420 code is gone.

All I am left is with the PO300 code.

Is there a sparky in this forum that can tell me how to test the O2 sensor?

if you have a volt meter, you can hook it up and see if it is generating voltage... it should be constantly fluctuating, if it is before the cat it should be fluctuating very drastically, if after the cat it should be slower.

the best way to test it is with an oscilloscope, but not many people have one of these kickin around

I suppose I dont know how these sensors work. I was under the impression that they worked similar to thermocouples????

I can get my hands on an oscilloscope. Do you know what type of readings should we get?

Why such fluctuating readings though?

In order to run the code through our database here at work, I need a specific engine, year, make, model
