Parking Brake cable popped?

Anyone ever had their parking brake cable snap? I pulled to release the brake and the lever pulled off and a foot or so of cable came with it. Any advice on where to start on this one?

i've had that happen in my ford. the cable for the handle broke. had to buy a new handle assembly.

What year truck is it on? is it just the release cable or the actual parking brake cable?

It's a '92 Silverado. It appears to just be the release cable. I'm trying to trace it back to the point of snappage.

That should be easy - it's about "a foot or so" back.
Seriously, would be a good time to check the rest of the cables in the system.
They are all the same age and used together.
