a good replacement tranny for a 1990 k1500 Z71

hey all..I was wondering what is a good replacement tranny for my 1990 k1500 Z71 5.7L...5 Speed manual...i want something strong as I may either put in a 383 or have the original overhauled ..not sure yet??1990 350 TBI still works great..has about 115 thousand miles on it....tranny is starting to shift hard and grinds when going to second from first...when it is real cold, first to second and now second to third is very hard to shift without grinding...and may need clutch as well, any recomendations on a strong clutch are welcome as well

The truck my have a bad slave cylinder or master cylinder. have it checked out before assuming the trans is shot. with only 115K, it should be in real good shape still unless it got beat really bad.

I think that's what he meant - "k" is short for "thousand" not just for metric....

Either way 115,000 miles, or 190,000 kilometers, the trans should still be in good working order unless the truck was beat severly...

was not beat..At all!!..I'm second owner and I know the guy who bought it new, personally...he ordered it loaded..pretty much every option there was available..has never even been off road....but when the weather is real cold..it is real hard to shift from first to second...now second to third is getting harder..slave cylinder was changed awhile back..slave is on the outside on this truck..had tranny flushed about 10 months ago..once truck is warmed up shifting becomes better but still not as smooth as it should be...tranny is not noisy either..truck sat at his mothers place for about 6 years..I've been driving it for about a year now...Either way I will probably need a new tranny with in the year maybe so I was asking...tranny still has some miles in it..I will be driving about 1800 k this week ...
