power window help please

on my 93 k1500 the drivers window just started acting up. the window will go down till about 2 inches from the bottom. then i will push the window down to have it completely open, but when i want to close it nothing happens, so i find out if i bang on the top part of the door where the window comes out the glass comes up and closes. any ideas? i would like to know what to look for before i take the panel off. thanks for all and any help.

Take the panel off anyways, a couple screws and clips. Look around for loose or pinched wires. switch could be bad. motor could be bad. window guides <-(dont know the correct term) could be bent. You need to get a visual on the problem.

Agree with Hayden, no substitute for looking. And you already have a place to start...

power window problems

Thanks for the response, I replaced the double window switch on the driver's door and the passenger side window worked 2-3 times and quit again, going to pull the door panels off and conduct a visual inspection, maybe that will yeild some answers.

crazyhorse i would say your problem is the motor also. when they drawl to much power they will kill the switch and fast. if the bearings are bad in the motor then the coil may be touching the case and casing a massive draw. i would take the motor out and run 12 volts to it and try to see if you see alot of sparks. if you do then it is toast
