48 chevy motor?

I recently accquired a 1948 chevy half ton truck that has been sitting in a garage for the past thirty six years. The truck is in very good shape and complete but has a locked up engine. The engine seems to be stuck pretty good as my efforts to free it have been unsuccesful. I am now considering replacing this engine with a known running one providing I am able to locate one. My question is which model year engines will swap with my current one to make this project a success with the least amount of problems?

HI, if you want to stay with the 6 cylinder 47-53 were all the same, but if you want to change to a v8 i'll need to swap out the engine crossmember and motor mounts, i buy my parts thru tuckers classic in las vegas (tuckersparts.com) they sell the crossmembers engine or tranny for about $60.00each it's an easy swap.good luck and keep those trucks on the road!
