4L60E Swap is it functionally possible to swap a 700R4 into a 96 Chevy in place of the 4L60E. maybe put the neutral safety switch off the 4l60 onto the 700r4 if possible, seems like it would be a better tranny but im not sure, seems the more simple the better it is for me.

What makes you believe that the 700 is better than the 60E? Lots of issues too. Speedo, TV cable, all of the labor. More than just the NSS. Don't think you are going the right direction here. You could have your existing trans fixed for what it will cost to buy a 700R4.

Thats is a coin toss. Buying something on-line that they claim is "beefed up" has probably left more folks disappointed than satisfied. If old school design is what you are looking for, then you may consider a three speed auto, no overdrive, or a manual trans. BTW, even thought the 700 is not an electronic trans, you will have to ake sure that the TV cable is properly adjusted, or you will burn it up too. Then you are really up a creek. The 4L60E is really a great transmission, and can be easily upgraded (like to a 4L65E) while it is being re-built. They do have a few electrical quirks, but have proven to be a strong and reliable transmission capable of plenty of abuse.
