| Bad Transmission well i dropped the pan and swapped both solenoids out and still having the same problem, so im calling it quits at this point just have to wait til i have the cash for trans rebuild which is $1450 for them to take it out and put all new everything in and beef it with heavy duty parts, new torque converter and put it all back together and reinstall it. they said they could do it the day i bring it in and have it ready the same time the next day or earlier. seems like alot of money to spend for something to be done that quick. |

| Unless you are in need of hard parts which they don't have it only takes about 2 hours to tear down and rebuild the transmission. that and with a lift and proper tools I could have that transmission out in 20 minutes.

| well if you can get it out in 20 min my hats off to you cuz me and my buddy took forever takin it out and goin back in with it. we werent exactly motivated either and we had an equivalent to a $20 autozone or oreilly floor jack so i guess the proper tools come into play but even at that by the time u pull both drive lines, unbolt and seperate the t-case from the tranny and maneuver all the bolts out of the bell housing, drop the dust cover which is almost impossible lol requires at least one side of the exhaust off and a big pry bar, you've spent some time. i know u dont mean exactly 20 min but to me its worth somebody doin it and throwin some warranty in with it, also i swapped the other one out last thursday so im still kinda sensitive on the subject, maybe another week or so and i'll be able to visualize myself doin it again, but not without a transmission jack. |

| yeah proper tools always make the job easier. If i were on my back on the ground it would take longer, but on a lift with the tools no problem.

my bench job cost me $643, $325 of that was labor, imagine if that included removal and installation of the tranny. with your price, your spending $1150 on labor if your parts cost $300 like mine. mine came with new cluthes, bands, sun shell, sun gear, bushings kit, Force shift kit, solenoids, filter and convertor. don't screw your self, look around. if a shop quotes you a good price, keep calling and mention that price to the other guys, if they know it's a reputable shop then they may try to bet their price. the guy that threw in a shift kit at no charge is the one that got my business.

| If you do pull it yourself again, unbolt the transfer case, linkage, and drive shafts and let the tranny drop down a little so you have alot more room to get the tranny lines and bolts off. saves alot of time and headaches

| If you don't plan on doing HD work with the truck there really isn't a need for HD parts, probably save alot of money there. Pulling the trans yourself is a good way also to save cash, but you'll likely void the warranty doing that, so it may be a good idea to bite the bullet and pay.

| my shop gave me a 1 year warrenty on a bench job. the only other suggestion i have is invest in a external tranny cooler and run it in series with the factory one in the radiator.

| well i called a guy and dallas i found on craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums and he has transmissions pretty cheap. he said i could get a rebuilt one with a good used torque converter for $400 it comes with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty. if i want a new torque converter its $50. i think im gonna go with this deal. |
