Backfiring Issue

my truck is backfiring trying to maintain speed driving through town, around 2600-3200 rpm, being that i have only 1st and 2nd gear is the reason for the higher rpms. i've been told tps sensor in another one of my posts on here but am hoping to get more info. my truck has plenty of power it doesnt cut out reving up or anything and if i get on the gas driving around it'll get up and go just fine so im kinda stumped but maybe somebody knows something. thanks alot

Had a similar problem a few years ago with a Jeep. Turned out to be the exaust downpipe loose where it bolted on to the exhaust manifold. However it was carb. and not EFI and life is rarely that simple.

I had some sort of similar problem with a Nissan Altima and it ended up being an EGR Solenoid.....now it runs perfectly fine.

My truck will do something similar but while on the highway (only when cold though) and I've been told that the Fule Pressure Regulator is bad.........but it'd cost me $350 to replace........hence, I may wait till it goes bad.

I would take out my EGR stuff, clean them, make sure there are no vacuum leaks, and make sure the EGR parts work as they are supposed to.

yea im pretty sure fuel pressure isnt a problem because i've had bad fuel pump in the past and clogged filters and it would lose power as it cut out, i can stick my foot in it and it goes with no problem, but i'll check into that stuff for sure.
