Starter Issue

I have a 95 K1500 with a 5.7L. I am having an issue with the starter engaging itself while I am already driving. I can turn the ignition off and remove the key, but the starter will continue to turn. The ignition itself responds properly...ie, engine runs while in run, then turns off once I turn the key to off, but the starter continues to spin. I replaced the starter and the solenoid thinking the solenoid possibly failed in the shut position. I don't think I have a starter relay in the 95, the Haynes manual says to check it and tells me it is in the underhood relay center, but it isn't there. Any ideas? I am at a loss. I really don't want to change out the key cylinder, but I think that is the last spot to check. Any help is much appreciated.

You must have power going down the wire that energises the starter solenoid (the 18g or so wire at the solenoid). If there is a starter relay then it could be stuck "on". If not then, as already mentioned, the starter contacts in the ign. switch could be stuck. However the solenoid wire may run to the starter along side the main power cable from the battery and may be shorting across to it. When fitting the new starter did you notice if the wires were well seperated? Before you replace the key switch, check the manual to see if the electrical ign./start switch comes with it. On Fords the electrical part is actually on the steering column under the dash.
