Unhappy rattle in steering column

I have a 2004 4x4 extended cab and have 46000 miles. it recently developed a rattle or feels like something sloppy in the steering colume or steering resulting in a thunk thunk that is felt in the steering wheel. I only feel it at slow speeds like parking and slow speed turning like in a parking lot. but it appears to be getting worse? any ideas or anyone else experiencing this. a friend with a 2003 said that he had a steering connecting ?? something replaced and it was a problem in 2002 and 2003 he thought??

the old steering column clunk in a GM. take it to the dealer, I'd bet my balls to a bulldog there is a TSB or a recall. the steering shaft needs to come out and be lubricated. real common on anything GM

Makes me wish I had a bulldog!
Nahhhh, would not matter anyway, you would win. Same old problem with the GM steering shaft. Little grease and that problem goes away.
Right again Joe!

Thanks.

If you had a bulldog, I wouldn't bet my balls so willingly...

GMTECH, is this a GM policy or a dealership policy? I called on Saturday and the service writer said he'd have to talk to his supervisor and to call back Monday. I had it lubed under warranty last year. It's out of warranty now but I only have 53K on the odometer. I told them they should've replaced the intermediate shaft on the first go around and he countered that the part only came out a few months ago. I just haven't time to call back but I sure will tomorrow. If I get resistance should I state that "I've been told this is being covered up to 100,000 miles?"
