Clutch Problems

I was pulling off the highway and when i went to push in the clutch there was nothing there. I can get it to sstart in gear but cannot shift. I have an 88 chevy 1500 it had a new clutch and slave cylinder put in it about 15000 miles ago so i dont know if that is it or not.

And it had been working perfectly until this incident? Sounds like a linkage for the clutch came loose/undone. Be sure to check your fluid to see if a line didn't just burst or anything.

sounds like maybe more of a shift fork or syncro problem

could be a linkage issue, too

(if hydraulic clutch operated) check to see if the clutch system is bleedable, have a buddy sit in the truck (NOT RUNNING) open the bleed and see if any comes out when he presses the pedal, if not replace master cylinder, if does, see if you can visually varify the cluch is moving(release brg movement), maybe through an inpection cover or something, if it doesn`t move you need a slave cylinder. if the clutch visually moves when depressed yet you can`t shift when running, there must be a failed clutch disc, hope this may be helpfull,(:

have someone lay underneath and remove the slave cylinder rod inspection plug on pass side of bellhousing, push in pedal and see if rod moves.

when you replaced clutch how bad was the disk

grab the pedal and pull/bend upwards then retry clutch, on high mileage cars/trucks the pedal bends below the rod then clutch doesn't release

how low was pedal after replaced
