98 chevy wont start

ok i have a 98 chevy pickup 350 i was driving it down the road and it started 2 back fire and then died. so i pulled it home started working on it and i found that it does have fuel pressure, and spark.so i thought timing and i found that my rotor bug came loose and bound up and broke the cap and spun the top of the distributer on the shaft. so replaced distributer, cap ,and rotor bug. and i retimed the motor its not 180 out or anything. but it still acts like my timings off could it maybe be my crank sensor telling the computer that my timings off. if so ive heard of having 2 do a crank sensor relearn what ever that is.

its probably throwing the crank/cam correlation code. The distributor needs to be set at zero degrees, +- 2 degrees. almost imposible to do by hand. there is a method, but I always used a scanner and I can't remember the other way..

but, it can't be adjusted while the truck is running, the computer will compensate for your changes, so timing it by ear is out.. I think there is a mark on the rotor, and something on the distributor.. Can't remember enough to help, sorry.
