'99 Chev ABS problem

My dad's '99 silverado 3/4 ton 6.0l has had a problem with his ABS not working for about the last year. The ABS light came on and the motor was constantly running. He hasn't had it fixed because it was over $1200 to replace. He recently found a place on the internet that will repair the module.
What I'm wondering has anyone here had theirs repaired and if so, where did you send it and what was the cost including shipping. This place my dad found was BBA Remanufacturing Inc. and the cost is $100 plus shipping charges, probably will be about $200 after UPS brokrage fees.

i would try a salvage yard. i'm pretty sure mine came from one due to the writing in grease marker and i have had no problems from it.

We've checked local salvage yards and most want almost replacement cost ($1000). They won't part with the module itself which I believe is all we need. Can the module itself be repaired internally?

it is probably possible, but i have never gone that far into an ABS system. if i could i would like to back up a bit. when the ABS light came on did you pull the codes, if so do you still remember it. also, have you checked the wiring?

I have replaced alot of the abs modules at the dealer for the pump motor staying on but have always used factoy parts but i would bet it is just a sticking relay and proably could be repaired. I will have to tear apart the next one i do and look at it

Didn't pull the codes at the time it happened, but I did check with a code reader the other day and no codes related to the ABS.
Would the module from my '97 work? If I could use that then I could eliminate the ABS pump itself. I kind of doubt it but thought I'd ask.
Like I said there's a company that will repair it if that is the problem.
Also, when and if it gets repaired, is there something that has to be reprogrammed in the computer?

nothing to program. you said this happened a couple of years ago did u unpluug the module or take out the fuse to turn the pump motor off because if you didn't it would have killed your battery overnight since they run even with the key turned off

Just unpluged the ABS fuse and put electrical tape over the ABS light lol.
The reason I asked about reprogramming was because my dad was told by some mechanic it would have to be reprogrammed by a dealer once it was changed. Just curious if there was any truth to this.

Thanks gmtech, at the very least it's worth a try. I'll tear it for him so he can send it off.
