Where can I get a durable center console lid that wont break or offend me financially.

first thing that comes to mind is: junkyard. but that's without knowing what you're looking for.

what year/make/model are we talkin?

Make one out of wood with cup holders and so on.

You can actually get pretty custom with plywood, 3M spray adhesive, bondo, and a sheet of automotive carpeting.. same way you'd make a subwoofer box. I've seen a lot of good center consoles that people have built themselves. Browse thru Cardomain.com next time you're bored, you're sure to see some.

my brother made one before, turned out real nice!

I took mine to an upholstery shop and the guy made a bracket to keep it from breaking again and voila.........it worked better than a new one. He also upholstered it!!!!!!!!!
