| Need pointed in the right direction (2 questions) Hi all, I have a 1992 Full Size Blazer. This morning, I turned on my windshield wipers (one of the delay settings) and they did not come on. Thought maybe there was a problem with the delay, so I went to low speed and still nothing. When I went to high speed, they came on and were wiping at high speed. The windshield washer pump still works (when used on the lever). The problem (for now) is that I only have high speed on the wipers. How do I troubleshoot this to find out which part needs replacement? The second part is I'm trying to find a part for the Blazer and I seem to be coming up short. I'm looking for the interior door panel arm rest (the part that is an arm rest and also has a handle for shutting the door). The original one is damaged beyond repair. So far, the only way I can find the arm rest is to buy a complete interior assembly. I was just wondering if someone out there can point me in the right direction for finding this part or if the only way to obtain this part is to buy a complete interior assembly. Thanks for your time and help. I do greatly appreciate it. |

| Okay, for the first problem, When you put the wipers on low or intermediate, is there a hum or noise of any kind with no action? Sounds like you have one of two problems there. Either the multi-function switch needs to be replaced, or there is a loose wire or short in the line for the relay on the lower settings. As for the second problem, it is difficult, especially for the older models like that to find a specific part like that. My best advice is the junkyards. You can get the whole panel for cheaper and take what you need. ... Or .... you can custom make one, but some guys do not like how that looks.

| Pull the plug off the motor. One contact always hot with key (WHT?c?), one ground (BLK?b?). Key for wipers to run. With switch set for hi look for hot at one plug contact (d?PPL?) With switch set for lo look for hot at another contact (e?GRAY?) If you have the hots, the motor is problem. If no hot, check without disconnecting the inside of truck at connectors. If lo hot still missing then the switch is problem. If low hot found, connecting wire is problem. If you have pulse washer, there should be a 5th wire at motor (ORG?a?) I'd be more specific, but both my diagram and memory are bad. Theory should be right. |

| junior: No hum noise that I can hear. I guess I will search the junkyards for the other part... Thanks for the tip... crab: I will use my multi and check for power on each of the points at the motor. Then (if I have too) check for power at the connectors. Just trying to save some time for me, do you know where the connectors are inside the truck? The motor end should be pretty obvious. Thanks for the help guys... |

I asked for a noise to see if it was the motor. If there is no action at all, then it is the actuator switch... so crab is right on this one. and a switch is easier then the motor to replace.....

| on 92-94 chevy trucks there was a bad circut board on the motor. black cover with 3 or 4 T-15 screws holding it on. just use causes a crack and (yet again!) GM has a new part that doesnt do that. junkyard will do the same thing too unless u get lucky and happen to get one that has already been replaced with the new one. not likley. around $50 and dealer item only. good luck!

| Nothing like keeping them off balance... If you determine the motor is the problem, open it up for inspection. Look for either bad solder joints (cold or open) which you can fix easy (very common), or evidence of water getting in, another easy caulking fix. Circuit board is available at some chain shops locally, one is mentioned in another thread @ $35. Water leaks are typically through the screw holes, but could be cover. When fixed, drowned it in sealer. |
